Smithville Marine Expands Ranger Rigging Options for 2018

In support of Ranger’s 2018 Retail Sales Programs for the boat show season, Smithville Marine is celebrating its second year under new ownership with expanded rigging options for tournament anglers purchasing high-end, high-performance bass boats.

According to Kent Hinz who owns Smithville Marine with his wife Stacie, “This year we’ve brought our high-end Rangers into the dealership with rigging that allows us to customize the electronics, trolling motor and the outboard options. We are working closely this year with Lowrance and Humminbird to provide the latest electronic technology to our boat buyers. And, we are one of the few dealerships in the metro area that can sell and service all three major engine lines — Yamaha, Mercury, and Evinrude.”

Even with the professional advice from Ranger, Pro-Staff, and employees, it is difficult to order boats in July and August for next year delivery when new technology may be on the market by the spring. “Last year we were taking off and switching electronics and trolling motors on most high-end bass boats to meet the needs of the tournament angler. That adds to the cost of the boat. This year we will follow in the footsteps of Ranger’s Build Your Own program and work with anglers to rig the boat to their specs the first time around.”

Smithville Marine is participating in the Kansas City Boat Show this year and will introduce its Pro-Staff — some familiar faces and some new faces. The advice of this new Pro-Staff has been instrumental in Smithville Marine adjusting its inventory of in-stock electronics and establishing supply lines to allow quick rigging of the boats. Kent adds, “It’s not just the strength of our Pro-Staff, it also the strength of our Service Department. We inherited a strong team when we purchased the business with Brad Hall as Service Manager and Scott Hall as Senior Technician. They both have extensive training and Certifications. We’ve continued to encourage their efforts to attend training and receive updated certifications at manufacturers facilities. Also, both Danny and Dale have continued their training through manufacturer training programs and provide specialty rigging services for new boat owners.”

Stacie and Kent agree that as the market for high-end bass boats matures and pricing becomes more standardized by the manufacturer, the strength of the dealership in service and financing will be one of the most robust features that the independent dealer can offer the boat buyer. That’s the strength Smithville Marine will build on as it approaches its 4th-decade serving Midwest boaters.
